Forsan High School recently announced
that Levi Johnson and Micaela Purcell are the top graduates
for the Class of 2005.
Johnson, the son of Randy and LaDonna
Johnson, is class valedictorian, a goal he says he has worked
toward since the third grade. The National Honor Society
member was named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship
Corp. competition, and has competed at the state level in
band, math, debate and journalism contests.
"So many family members, friends,
teachers and administrators have helped me grow and succeed in
both school and life," Johnson said recently. "God has used
these people to bless me in so many ways, and it is to him
that I must give the glory."
Johnson plans to attend Texas Tech
University and major in mathematics.
Class salutatorian Purcell, the
daughter of Charles and Ellen Purcell, plans to attend Moody
Bible Institute in Chicago, majoring in elementary education.
She is a two-year member of the NHS, and has been named to
Who's Who Among American High School Students.
She is a member of the FHS student
council, speech and debate team, band and Spanish club. She
was a regional qualifier in University Interscholastic League
competition in computer applications, informative speaking and
mathematics.
Forsan High School will hold
graduation ceremonies at 8 p.m. May 26 at the high school
gymnasium.
