Governor Greg Abbot has issued an Executive Order that includes the statewide closure of Texas school buildings through midnight on Friday, April 3. Therefore, Forsan ISD will continue with our current distance learning format which includes a packet-based program at our elementary and an on-line environment for our secondary students. Food service will continue to be offered at the same three locations (Coop, "Pad", and Forsan Elementary).
In addition, The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has issued a statement which continues the current policies of no practice or competition for any UIL activities until after May 3rd. This impacts academic , athletic and fine arts (band and One Act Play) competitions and practices.
Considering the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, Forsan ISD will extend the suspension of normal district operations through Friday, March 27. However, teaching and learning will begin anew tomorrow, Wednesday the 18th with a new look. The secondary campus is moving to an on-line environment. The elementary is primarily using a packet distribution process to provide learning opportunities but will support that with on-line options in varying degrees. Details of each are being disseminated through other notifications. Please watch for on-going social media posts and especially watch the Forsan ISD website (www.forsan.esc18.net). Each teacher has a web page linked to the school's homepage. That is a great starting point for more detailed information.
Again, Forsan ISD will not resume traditional school operations until sometime after March 27, 2020. If there is a need to continue the suspension past that date, that announcement will be made as soon as possible. This is a quickly changing situation, and we will continue to monitor information, will assess conditions throughout the week, and will provide the daily information through our website (www.forsan.esc18.net), email, and social media. The information will be more detailed on the website than on social media.
School employees are staffing the phones and will work to get you answers to your questions. Food service will also begin tomorrow, March 18th at three locations advertised elsewhere.
Forsan ISD will be providing sacked meals for students while its campuses are closed. Meals will be available at three locations.

Our staff met this morning to review the latest information from the Texas Education Agency and the Centers for Disease Control. Teachers and paraprofessionals began planning the best ways to provide instruction to our students. One of our goals is to determine very soon which of our students have access to a device/internet. Watch for a survey this week. We will adjust provision of lessons based on students' ability to use google classroom and/or teachers' websites for updates and assignments. We must also be sure to provide the accommodations and modifications needed for our students that receive special education services. Teachers began today reaching out to students through existing communication channels such as google classroom. We will continue that through the week and begin providing lessons. We miss our students and want them to know that we are thinking about them and their families. Please let us know if you have any questions: 432-457-2223.

Our staff met this morning to review the latest information from the Texas Education Agency and the Centers for Disease Control. Forsan Elementary is currently in planning and preparation mode to educate students using a distance learning approach. Our teachers are hard at work gathering work for students and creating instructional videos. We will issue classwork in the form of packets. Packet pick-up this week will be on Wednesday, 3/18/2020. To help parents have time to pick-up packets, we will have three separate pick-up times. These times will be from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM. The packet pick-up line will be located in what is usually the student pick-up line, wrapping around the school and ending beside the small PreK playground. Teachers will begin to make contact with parents and provide more specific information by grade level. Our building feels empty without students in the classrooms and hallways and we want them to know that our thoughts are with them and their families.
