TMSCA

Forsan Junior High students competed at the state TMSCA meet April 13 at UTSA in San Antonio. The Science Team placed 5th overall, with several students placing in the top 10.

“Any student who has an interest in science and math should step out and find out what TMSCA is all about. This is a great way for them to not only do something they love, but practice and enrich those skills,” Chelsea Wells, Forsan Junior High TMSCA co-director, said.

Texas Math and Science Coaches Association (TMSCA) is an organization similar to UIL academics that provides further academic competition in the number sense, calculator applications, mathematics and science contests. Forsan Junior High has participated in TMSCA for the past several year under the direction of Chelsea Wells and Sheila Jones.

“Students will often gain self-confidence and knowledge that assists them in high school and beyond,” Sheila Jones, Forsan Junior High TMSCA co-director, said. “Even if a student doesn't qualify for state, the benefit of the amount of extra time spent learning and collaborating with others is immeasurable.”
