There is something about Forsan, the Big Spring area and West Texas in general; it always seems to call you home.
Forsan ISD has officially announced Michael Valencia as the new superintendent.
“I am excited to experience what I can bring to Forsan, but also what Forsan can bring to my family,” Valencia said. “The pride, the tradition, the excellence, and the student success is what I’m excited about in this new journey.”
Having family in Big Spring, Valencia had Forsan on his radar since he was a child. Whether it was through family that attended school here, athletic and academic competition, or just hearing of the Forsan community itself.
“Being from the area, competing against Forsan, and as I grew into different roles in the education system watching the students compete, Forsan was always one that I enjoyed hearing about and watching how they did things,” Valencia said.
The school board officially approved Valencia during a board meeting on Wednesday afternoon. Valencia comes to Forsan from McCamey ISD and is looking forward to bringing his positive energy to the already contagious energy that Forsan exhibits.
“I look forward to not only bringing my positive energy, but also looking forward to taking on all the energy that’s already here and finding a way to make it mix so that we are not only excellent, but elite,” he said. “If we aren’t always entering each day with the attitude that it’s the best day then we still have areas to conquer. It’s about having that positive energy and making it contagious.”
As he looks to begin his new chapter as a Forsan Buffalo, he is looking for the opportunity, the greatness and the excellence that exists at Forsan ISD.
“Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this team. I am excited and feel the energy already.”
