Seniors took part in the Open Roads Pledge Rally at Howard College.
During the event, representatives with Howard College provided tours down three pathways that the students can take - Buiness and Industry, Public Service, and Health Science.
Insight was provided on careers and educational requirements for those looking at careers pertainig to construction trades, criminal justice, ASL, cosmetology, welding, Health Sciences, nursing, dental hygiene and vet techs.
The Open Road Promise, at Howard College, allows for students to earn an associate degree or certificate at Howard College with no out-of-pocket tuition costs or fees. There are more than 70 eligible academic and technical programs that fit into the Open Roads Promise. Tuition and fees are covered through a combination of grants and scholarships for those taking part in the Open Roads Promise program, once all the steps and deadlines have been completed and met.
To be eligible for the Open Roads Promise students must graduate from a participating promise high school and reside in Dawson, Glasscock, Howard or Martin Counties. Students must be enrolled full or part time and pursue a certificate or associate degree, complete a minimum of 12 hours and no more than 17 hours per semester; part time students will need to take between six and 11 credit hours; maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA and submit a FAFSA or TASFA by deadline.
