Forsan High School’s Elizabeth Raffini earned a big moment in the spotlight after earning a spot in the All‑Region Concert, joining some of the top young musicians from across the area. Raffini had an opportunity to perform at Midland’s Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center this past weekend.
“This put Elizabeth in a place where she can connect to other musicians who are trying to be the best they can be. She gets to meet with composers who have written her favorite pieces, and connect with other educators who may share similar passions,” Forsan Band Director Adrian Martinez said.
According to Martinez, all students who audition for the regional band get an opportunity to participate in state ensembles. The higher the ensemble place the more opportunity to meet famous clinicians, composers and other talents. The first round of auditions allows for an opportunity to be in the Region Band, with only a selection getting chosen to audition for state ensemble. Advancing from there would bring the competition to participants across the state of Texas.
“Once you get to the state ensemble it’s all about putting your best foot forward because there is always someone who wants to be better than you,” Martinez said.
