Welding Program at Forsan ISD receives donation

The Forsan Welding Program students will soon be working under new ventilation systems thanks to a donation recently received from SM Energy. During the January Board of Trustees Meeting, at Forsan ISD, a $7,500 check was presented by the Big Spring Area Community Foundation.

“We are extremely appreciative of this donation, and all donations that we receive. This support makes a big difference in the program for all those involved,” Keith Bagnall, Forsan ISD Welding Instructor, said.

The donation came through an outside connection when representatives of SM Energy heard that the program was looking at adding new ventilation systems in the welding area. Through the support of the Big Spring Area Community Foundation, the donation was able to be made to the school district.

“SM Energy has proven to be a wonderful partner to schools in our community. Wade Dunbar has been our contact at SM Energy and we appreciate his and the company's support for career and technical education,” Randy Johnson, Forsan ISD Superintendent, said.

Students at Forsan ISD have the opportunity to graduate with multiple welding certificates.
